Detailed Vanilla Models - Part 5: Electronics improves the appearance of electronic devices in Project Zomboid. Radios, telephones, pagers and other everyday equipment receive redesigned 3D models with smoother geometry and more recognizable details.

The goal is to make familiar objects look convincing when viewed up close without changing their original style or functionality.

This visual upgrade was created with Project Viewpoint in mind, but it also works in the classic isometric perspective.

Redesigned Electronic Devices

The fifth installment covers several categories of household and portable electronics.

Each device retains its original colors and textures, so different variants remain recognizable.

Radios with More Realistic Details

The portable radio receives one of the most noticeable improvements.

Its body now includes a raised tuning dial, a separate control knob, defined speaker openings and a telescopic antenna.

All three original color variants are supported.

These additions make the device easier to recognize when examined from different angles, especially in first-person mode.

Phones, Remotes and Pagers

Small controls are no longer represented solely by flat textures.

Television remotes and cordless phones have raised buttons, while pagers feature a more defined screen frame and individual controls.

The changes are particularly visible when objects are held close to the camera.

Batteries, Headphones and Light Bulbs

Several simpler items also receive improved geometry.

The hair dryer and headphones have smoother silhouettes, reducing the faceted appearance of their vanilla models.

Batteries, CD players and light bulbs gain more realistic shapes and details. All original light bulb colors are preserved.

These are graphical improvements only. The addon does not introduce new electronic functions, radio frequencies or equipment interactions.

Restore Vanilla Models by Category

You can choose which groups use the redesigned models.

Open the settings menu:

Options > Mods

Each supported category includes a Use Vanilla Model option.

This allows you to keep the original appearance of selected devices while using improved models for others.

Restart the game after changing these settings for the new selection to take effect.

Compatibility and Technical Details

The modification adds its replacement assets under separate names rather than overwriting original game files.

It operates on the client side and preserves item identities and gameplay properties.

No additional dependencies are specified.

The improved models are also available in the standard isometric view, so first-person gameplay is not necessary.
