IsoRim Waylith transforms RimWorld 1.7 into a 3D experience with a rotating isometric camera, hundreds of 3D models and new viewing options. Explore your colony from different angles, see buildings, colonists, gravships and space platforms in three dimensions, and expand the experience with model packs and multi-level construction. Requires Harmony.
Contents
IsoRim Waylith is a graphical mod for RimWorld 1.7 that transforms the familiar top-down colony view into a fully three-dimensional experience with a controllable isometric camera. Players can rotate the camera, change viewing angles, and explore their settlements from entirely different perspectives while retaining the original game's mechanics.
Based on the original IsoRim project, Waylith has been rebuilt for the rendering system introduced in RimWorld 1.7. The modification includes hundreds of new 3D models covering content from the base game and all DLCs, including buildings, colonists, gravships, and space platforms.
Isometric 3D Camera and New Graphics
The main feature of IsoRim Waylith is its ability to display RimWorld's world using three-dimensional models instead of the traditional flat perspective.
Main features include:
- 3D colony visualization: Buildings, objects, and other supported game elements appear as three-dimensional models.
- Rotating isometric camera: View your settlement from different angles.
- Hundreds of 3D models: Expanded graphical coverage for the base game and all RimWorld DLCs.
- Gravships and space platforms: Space-related structures and characters are represented in 3D.
- Adjustable viewing angles: Switch between isometric and straight-on perspectives.
- Additional camera settings: Customize the viewing experience through the mod configuration menu.
The modification changes how the game is displayed without altering its underlying simulation mechanics.
Camera Controls and Settings
IsoRim Waylith includes several controls for navigating the three-dimensional world.
Default controls:
0or the cube button in the bottom-right corner: Enable or disable 3D mode.9: Switch between isometric and straight-on camera perspectives.Q/E: Rotate the camera.[/]: Adjust camera tilt.Ctrl + Middle Mouse Button: Free camera movement.
Roofs are hidden by default when using the 3D view. Their visibility can be controlled using the roof button in the bottom-right corner.
Additional settings are available under Options > Mod settings > IsoRim.
Multi-Level Construction with IsoRimZ
IsoRim Waylith supports the separate IsoRimZ addon, which introduces vertical construction and additional terrain elevation.
With this addon installed, players gain access to:
- Multi-story buildings with functional upper floors.
- Stairs and other ways to move between levels.
- Tall mountains and elevated construction.
The floors system is not part of the main IsoRim Waylith package and requires a separate addon.
Additional addon: IsoRimZ - Multi-Level Construction
Alien Races and Additional Model Packs
IsoRim Waylith can display humanoid alien races from Humanoid Alien Races (HAR) in 3D through dedicated model packs.
One example is the Kiiro Pack, which adds three-dimensional models for its supported alien race.
Additional model packs extend the graphical coverage of the main modification, allowing content from other mods to receive appropriate 3D representations.
Tools for 3D Model Creators
The modification also includes development tools for creating new model packs.
Available tools include:
- Model Binder: Assign 3D models to buildings and items, adjust their appearance in real time, and export ready-to-use model packs.
- Model Coverage: Identify buildings and items that do not yet have corresponding 3D models.
- HAR model packs: Create additional graphical support for alien races using XML definitions and models.
To access the Model Binder, enable development mode and navigate to:
Debug actions > IsoRim > Model binder
The tool supports importing .obj models.
Developers can also consult the Model Pack Guide for additional information.
Requirements and Compatibility
IsoRim Waylith is designed exclusively for RimWorld 1.7 and requires Harmony.
Important compatibility information:
- RimWorld 1.7: Required game version.
- Harmony: Required dependency.
- Existing saves: The mod can be safely added or removed because its changes are visual.
- Original IsoRim: Must not be used together with Waylith.
- Base game and DLCs: Tested.
- Other mods: Compatibility has not been comprehensively tested.
- IsoRimZ: Supported as a separate addon for multi-level construction.
During the first launch, colors may temporarily appear incorrect while the game compiles shaders. The visual appearance should normalize after shader compilation finishes.
