Project Viewpoint: TREE in 3D — Seasonal Forests with Depth

Project Viewpoint: TREE in 3D replaces nearby vanilla trees with three-dimensional branches and crowns. Wind moves the foliage, autumn brings falling leaves, and accumulated snow gradually whitens exposed surfaces.

The add-on covers all 11 vanilla tree species, with three shape variants per species and support for their normal growth sizes. Position-based variation keeps individual trees consistent while making groups of the same species look less uniform.

Forests that follow the seasons

Deciduous trees retain the game’s seasonal cycle, from spring foliage to autumn colours and bare winter branches. Evergreen species keep their characteristic appearance.

Branches and leaves respond to wind direction and strength, transitioning smoothly between gentle movement and stronger swaying.

During autumn, nearby deciduous trees release a scattering of leaves that drift with the wind. Evergreens and already-bare trees do not produce this effect.

Snow that stays until it melts

A thin covering settles on upward-facing branches and crown surfaces. Undersides retain their foliage colours, while vertical trunks largely preserve their bark appearance.

Coverage follows accumulated snow, not just active snowfall. Trees may remain white after the weather clears and gradually lose that covering as snow melts.

The mod does not change the weather, create ground snow, or add snow effects to characters and vehicles.

Settings and performance

Under Options → Mods → Project Viewpoint: TREE in 3D, you can adjust:

  • Leaf density: Medium or High, with High adding approximately 20% more leaf clusters.
  • Leaf sway
  • Autumn falling leaves
  • Tree snow

Effects are enabled by default, with Medium density selected. Settings apply during play and are saved without requiring a restart.

Performance depends on hardware, forest density, camera position, and other mods. Medium is the recommended starting point.

Requirements and installation

Load order: ZombieBuddy → Project Viewpoint → Project Viewpoint: TREE in 3D.

Fully close and restart the game after installing, updating, enabling, or disabling the mod. Returning to the main menu or reloading Lua is insufficient.

Compatibility

Only nearby trees are replaced. Bushes and Viewpoint’s distant-tree rendering remain under their existing systems, while original game objects still handle chopping and collision.

Registered tree replacements from other mods are respected. Unsupported rendering or shader versions may disable individual visual effects. Multiplayer setups and larger mod combinations require verification.
