Vanilla Gear Expanded - FBI, SWAT, ATF and Tactical Equipment for Project Zomboid

Vanilla Gear Expanded adds new police uniforms, tactical equipment and protective clothing to Project Zomboid. The collection expands the gear available to law enforcement agencies and specialized units operating around Knox County.

Players can discover FBI and ATF clothing, tactical helmets, body armor, riot equipment and accessories designed to match the original game's appearance.

The addon also improves several existing textures, including police vests, gas masks and camouflage patterns.

Supports both Build 41 and Build 42, although some equipment is exclusive to the newer version.

New Police and Tactical Equipment

FBI, ATF and Police Uniforms

New agency-specific equipment includes:

• ATF and Press baseball caps.

Tactical Clothing and Armor

The expansion also introduces a selection of customizable tactical gear.

Additional accessories include tactical goggles, a headset, a balaclava, riot helmets and a riding helmet.

The collection also features Prison Riot Uniform and Prison Riot Armor for correctional facility and riot-control outfits.

Flashlights and Radios on Vests

In Build 42, angled flashlights and radios can be attached to compatible vests.

This expands the available equipment combinations without requiring an entirely different clothing system.

The mod also includes a tactical balaclava. In Build 41, it does not hide facial hair.

Improved Vanilla Textures

Vanilla Gear Expanded does more than introduce new items. It also replaces selected original textures to improve their appearance and correct lettering.

Updated equipment includes:

• Police and SWAT bulletproof vests.
• SWAT baseball cap.
• Three gas mask variants.
• Tactical knee and elbow pads - Build 42 only.
• Tactical thigh and shin pads - Build 42 only.
• Black holster - Build 42 only.
• Chest rig - Build 42 only.
• All hunting camouflage textures - Build 42 only.

All textures retain the original game's resolution, keeping the addon performance-friendly and visually consistent with vanilla clothing.

The collection also includes a lore-friendly explanation related to the absence of dogs and firearms in Knox County.

Where to Find the New Items

Equipment can appear in police stations throughout the map.

There is also a small chance of encountering zombies wearing the new uniforms.

This allows players to obtain clothing through exploration or by looting infected characters.

Can It Be Added to an Existing Save?

Yes. The author confirms compatibility with ongoing playthroughs.

However, new equipment will not spawn in locations you have already visited.

Explore previously unvisited areas to find the additional clothing and gear.
