Contents
Immersive Suicide expands the character death mechanics in Project Zomboid by restoring unused animations and introducing an optional firearm-based interaction.
The modification is designed to fit the game's survival atmosphere without changing its core combat systems. It supports different firearm types, multiplayer sessions and configurable behavior.
Compatible with Build 41 and the latest Build 42 release.
Main Features
The addon introduces several mechanics related to its optional character death interaction:
- Custom firearm interaction - Available through the right-click context menu.
- One-handed and two-handed firearms - Both weapon categories are supported.
- Restored animations - Uses existing but previously unused Project Zomboid animations.
- Firearm Radial Menu - Additional access through the weapon interaction interface.
- Action cancellation - Optional cancellation through aiming, walking or running.
- Ammunition requirements - The selected firearm must be functional and loaded.
- Multiplayer support - Works in multiplayer sessions.
- Sandbox customization - Includes an option to control whether the character reanimates.
Character Death and Zombification
By default, the interaction prevents the character from becoming a zombie afterward.
However, the mod includes an optional sandbox setting that changes this behavior.
When enabled, the character will always reanimate as a zombie after this type of death.
This allows players and server administrators to choose whichever behavior best fits their survival scenario.
Firearm Compatibility
The modification supports one-handed and two-handed firearms, including weapons from compatible third-party addons.
The developer specifically lists support for:
- Brita's Weapon Pack.
- Rain's Firearms & Gun Parts for Build 42.
- Efficiency Skill, with official integration.
Other weapon modifications may also work if they correctly identify their firearms as one-handed or two-handed.
Compatibility with every firearm overhaul is not guaranteed.

Important Build 42 Notice
Only the latest available Build 42 version is supported.
The developer does not maintain separate compatibility fixes for every older unstable release because the game continues to undergo significant changes.
Players using outdated experimental versions may experience problems.
Languages and Translations
The mod includes native translations for:
- English.
- Russian.
- Turkish.
Additional languages are supported through machine translations produced using Google Translate and DeepL.
Some localized text may contain inaccuracies.
Content Warning
Immersive Suicide contains sensitive themes and character death animations.
The modification is intended to provide an additional narrative option within Project Zomboid's survival setting rather than glorify self-harm.
It remains actively maintained according to the developer's description, with support for Build 41, current Build 42 releases and multiplayer gameplay.
