Detailed Vanilla Models - 3D Gloves improves the appearance of hand equipment in Project Zomboid by replacing 20 flat glove textures with properly modeled three-dimensional versions.
In the original game, many gloves are represented as textures painted directly onto a character's hands. This works reasonably well from a distance, but the lack of geometry becomes noticeable when examining equipment up close.
The addon addresses this limitation with detailed shapes, individual fingers, visible seams and carefully fitted materials. Both male and female characters receive the improved models.
It is designed around Tomb's Player Body and works in the standard isometric view as well as with the optional first-person perspective of Project Viewpoint.
20 Vanilla Gloves Remade in 3D
The collection covers several types of handwear, from ordinary protective gloves to improvised wraps and armor.
Each model preserves the recognizable appearance and colors of its original item.
Full-Finger Gloves
Supported variants include:
- Black and brown leather gloves.
- Wool gloves.
- Hunting camouflage gloves.
- Surgical gloves.
- Dishwashing gloves.
- Long gloves.
Depending on the item, the redesigned geometry includes separate fingers, folded or rolled cuffs and additional surface details.
Leather variants receive visible stitching, wrist straps and fastening snaps.
These improvements make the equipment look more natural when viewed from different angles.
Fingerless Gloves and Hand Wraps
The addon also updates handwear that leaves parts of the fingers exposed.
Included variants cover:
- Black and brown fingerless leather gloves.
- Standard fingerless gloves.
- Burlap hand wraps.
- Denim wraps.
- Leather wraps.
- Rag wraps.
- Tarp wraps.
The new shapes distinguish exposed fingers from the material covering the rest of the hand.
This is particularly noticeable during close-up gameplay with Project Viewpoint.
Armored Gloves
Protective handwear is also included:
- Bone armor gloves.
- Metal armor gloves.
- Metal scrap gloves.
Their three-dimensional appearance better represents the different materials used in each design.
Original Appearance and Protection Preserved
The modification changes only how the selected items look when worn.
It does not modify:
- Glove protection values.
- Item statistics.
- Existing equipment functionality.
- Original item identifiers.
All 20 affected clothing definitions retain their vanilla IDs.
The familiar colors and visual identity are preserved, including compatibility with the appearance of Clothes HD.
Boxing gloves and ice hockey gloves are not replaced, because they already have 3D models in the original game.
Requirements and Installation
The only mandatory dependency is Tomb's Player Body.
The new geometry is specifically fitted to its detailed hands and fingers.
Installation:
- Install Tomb's Player Body.
- Subscribe to Detailed Vanilla Models - 3D Gloves.
- Enable both modifications.
- Place the glove addon after Tomb's Player Body in the load order.
- Start the game and equip a supported item.
The mod has been tested on Project Zomboid Build 42.21.
Is Project Viewpoint Required?
No.
The models work in the classic isometric perspective without a first-person camera.
However, the Project Viewpoint system benefits from the added detail because hands and equipment are viewed much closer to the camera.
Existing Saves and Compatibility
The addon is visual-only and can be added to an existing save.
Previously obtained gloves retain their identities and gameplay properties.
The important requirement is using the compatible character body model from Tomb's Player Body.
No additional items need to be collected, and there are no new crafting recipes.
Detailed Vanilla Models Series
This release belongs to a larger collection of visual upgrades for everyday Project Zomboid equipment.
Other standalone modules cover weapons, tools, food, drinks, medical supplies, electronics, kitchenware, smoking items and various accessories.
The individual parts can be installed independently, although this glove addon specifically requires Tomb's Player Body.
All releases are grouped in the Detailed Vanilla Models - Complete Series collection.
The result is a straightforward visual enhancement for players who want more convincing character equipment without changing combat balance, clothing protection or survival mechanics.
