Skateboard Mod - Rideable Skateboards, Ollie Tricks and Custom Speed for Project Zomboid

Skateboard Mod brings a new way to travel through Project Zomboid. Instead of walking or relying on cars, survivors can ride a skateboard through towns, neighborhoods and other accessible areas.

The board increases movement speed, supports basic tricks and can be repaired or disassembled. However, it produces considerable noise, making every trip potentially risky when zombies are nearby.

The modification supports Build 42.20 and newer, including multiplayer.

Skateboard Features

The addon introduces several mechanics for riding and maintaining your equipment:

• Rideable skateboard with custom animations.
• Adjustable movement speed.
• Sprinting for faster travel.
• Basic Ollie trick.
• Combat mode while riding.
• Removable wheels and trucks.
• Repairs using glue or tape.
• Optional terrain-based speed penalties.
• Movement restrictions caused by leg and foot injuries.

Skateboards appear in schools, toy stores and other locations where they would naturally be found.

Controls and Riding

Getting started is straightforward. Find a board, approach it and press E to hop on.

Pressing E near a door prioritizes opening the door, allowing you to skate directly into buildings.

Ollie Tricks

The mod includes a basic Ollie, performed by pressing G while riding at low speed.

A more extensive trick system with additional animations is planned for future updates.

Stamina Consumption

Normal riding consumes no stamina, similar to walking.

Holding SHIFT increases movement speed but drains stamina at the same rate as running.

Your character's physical condition also matters. Injuries to the legs or feet can affect mobility, while a broken leg or foot prevents skating entirely.

Immersive Mode and Terrain

An optional Immersive Mode makes surface conditions affect movement.

When enabled, the board slows down on rough terrain, including:

• Grass.
• Gravel.
• Sand.
• Dirt.

Smooth roads and paved areas are therefore more suitable for maintaining speed.

You can adjust skateboard speed and toggle Immersive Mode through the mod settings.

Maintenance and Disassembly

Skateboards are not permanent, indestructible equipment.

Damaged boards can be repaired using:

• Glue.
• Wood Glue.
• Tape.

You can also dismantle a skateboard, removing its wheels and trucks as separate components.

Important: Although existing parts can be removed, a complete system for interchangeable components is still planned and should not be confused with the current disassembly feature.

Noise and Survival Risks

A skateboard offers a faster alternative to walking, but it is noticeably loud.

This creates an important trade-off: faster transportation can draw unwanted attention from nearby zombies.

Rough terrain and injuries can further limit your ability to escape.

For safer travel, consider using paved routes and monitoring your character's stamina before accelerating.

Compatibility and Known Issues

Some riding animations may occasionally look awkward. The author acknowledges these visual imperfections and continues improving the system.

Planned Improvements

Future development includes:

• A complete trick system.
• Additional custom animations.
• Interchangeable skateboard components.
• Improved turning and braking.
• Falling animations.

These features are not yet part of the current release.
