Viewpoint: 3D Fences — Detailed Fences for First-Person Exploration
Viewpoint: 3D Fences replaces common fence visuals with fully modelled structures. Individual boards, posts, metal bars, mesh, and wire give fences depth when viewed up close through Project Viewpoint.
The mod covers 13 fence types, accounting for approximately 99% of fences placed on the vanilla map.
Familiar designs with more detail
Supported styles include wooden plank and picket fences, chain-link fencing, wrought iron, security barriers, barbed and razor wire, and precast concrete walls.
Colours follow the original game artwork, with weathering and damp dirt near ground level. Connected sections, corners, end posts, and alternating patterns are arranged to match their placement on the map.
Models respond to lighting, shadows, and flashlights, with support for Iris shader packs.
Visual changes only
The mod does not alter collision, vaulting, climbing, or zombie attacks against fences. Existing gameplay behaviour remains in place.
Models appear within Viewpoint’s configured model-pack distance. Beyond that range, fences use Viewpoint’s usual rendering.
You can toggle the pack under World → Model packs, and adjust its display range through World → Levels of detail.
Compatibility and coverage
Other model packs can be used alongside it. When another pack models the same supported fence sprite, 3D Fences takes priority for that sprite to keep the structure visually consistent.
The pack does not cover:
- broken or burnt fences;
- gates, which already have base-game 3D models;
- railings and low walls;
- less common fence types.
Requirements
- Project Zomboid Build 42.21
- [Project Viewpoint] and its required dependencies
The mod runs client-side and can be added to or removed from an existing save.
