Tomb's Wardrobe - Alternative expands character customization in Project Zomboid with a large collection of gothic, punk, deathrock and alternative fashion.
The wardrobe includes over 100 clothing items with more than 600 variations, ranging from leather jackets and corsets to band T-shirts, platform-style footwear and accessories.
Two versions are available: one designed for Tomb's Player Body and another adapted to standard Project Zomboid characters.
Clothing and Accessories
The collection covers a wide variety of styles inspired by alternative fashion from the 1980s and 1990s.
| Category | Included Items |
|---|---|
| Outerwear | Leather jackets, trench coats and winter jackets |
| Pants and shorts | Jeans, leather pants, tactical trousers, hotpants and microshorts |
| Dresses and skirts | Dresses, pleated skirts, corsets and bodysuits |
| Tops | Tank tops, alternative shirts and band merchandise |
| Footwear | Boots, shoes and multiple model variations |
| Accessories | Spiked collars, belts, sunglasses, masks and artificial nails |
| Other clothing | Harnesses and underwear |
Band T-Shirts and Custom Outfits
More than 30 band T-shirt designs are included, inspired by iconic music from the 1980s and 1990s.
Many shirts can be ripped into shorter versions, providing additional outfit combinations.
Some jackets and other garments offer context menu options to switch between open and closed appearances.
277 Footwear Combinations
Shoes are one of the largest parts of the collection.
There are 277 unique model and texture combinations, allowing players to experiment with different footwear styles and colors.
Version 2.0 - Backpacks and Sandbox Settings
The 2.0 update introduces customizable backpacks and additional configuration options.
New bags include:
- Tight-fitting backpacks.
- Loose-fitting variants.
- Satchel-style bags.
- Multiple texture choices.
Through Sandbox settings, players can adjust backpack capacity and weight reduction, making smaller bags more practical.
A global loot multiplier also controls how frequently clothing appears in the world.
Custom body locations return in this update, while winter jackets and pleated skirts are now available for vanilla characters.
Multilingual support has also been expanded.
Where to Find Clothing
Items appear in familiar loot locations, including wardrobes, bedside tables, closets, clothing stores, lockers, storage areas, military containers and safehouses.
Spawn chances are relatively low, particularly with the standard Build 42 Apocalypse settings.
Some outfits can also be found on zombies, following spawn logic similar to the game's rock and goth zombies.
Hunting appropriately dressed zombies is one way to collect rare clothing, although bladed weapons may damage the garments.
The global loot multiplier can be adjusted if you prefer more frequent discoveries.
Choosing the Right Version
The package provides two alternative versions.
Tomb's Player Body Version
Designed primarily for Tomb's Player Body and its Compatibility Patch.
This combination is recommended for the intended appearance of the outfits.
If clothing clips unusually and the character has no visible fingers, the custom body may not have loaded correctly.
Vanilla Character Version
Use this version if you prefer the game's original character models.
It includes the clothing collection and backpacks without requiring Tomb's Player Body.
However, certain strappy tops and dresses may appear distorted, while some jackets and shoes have been enlarged to fit the standard body.
Tight backpacks can also have minor clipping. Choose loose variants if this is noticeable.
Load order does not matter, according to the author.
For sharper details, a maximum texture size of at least 512 is recommended. The default 256 setting gives a look closer to the base game.
Compatibility and Installation Notes
| Feature | Status |
|---|---|
| Build 41 | Supported |
| Build 42 | Supported |
| Multiplayer | Reported working in author's tests |
| Existing saves | Safe to add or remove, with backups recommended |
| Vanilla characters | Separate compatible version |
| Tomb's Player Body | Dedicated version available |
In Build 42 multiplayer, clothing from custom modules may not appear as pre-equipped options in the All Clothing Unlocked character creation menu.
A separate compatibility fix is available for this issue.
When adding the wardrobe to an existing save, new loot will appear only in areas that have not yet been visited.
The optional Open Jackets modification is also recommended for additional outfit combinations and tucked-pants functionality.
With extensive clothing choices, alternative body support and customizable backpacks, Tomb's Wardrobe - Alternative offers more freedom to create distinctive survivor outfits without replacing the game's core survival systems.
