Livestock Guardians - Anatolian Shepherd and Greater Swiss Mountain Dog for Project Zomboid

Livestock Guardians is an addon for the Companion Dogs mod in Project Zomboid that introduces two large dog breeds traditionally associated with protecting livestock. These powerful canine companions are especially suited to rural survival, where zombies can threaten both survivors and their animals.

The modification adds the Anatolian Shepherd and Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, each featuring a distinctive appearance, impressive adult size, and powerful bites.

Two New Guardian Dog Breeds

Livestock Guardians expands the variety of dogs available through Companion Dogs with two breeds selected for their protective characteristics.

The addon includes:

• Anatolian Shepherd: A large livestock guardian dog with a strong bite and a choice of fawn or brindle coat colors.
• Greater Swiss Mountain Dog: A powerful mountain dog featuring its recognizable black, red, and white tricolor coat.

Both breeds grow into large dogs, making them imposing companions in a world overrun by zombies.

Protecting Livestock Against Zombies

The new breeds are designed around the idea of protecting farm animals from zombie threats.

Main features include:

• Large adult size: Both breeds become substantial dogs when fully grown.
• Powerful bites: Their attacks can pose a serious threat to approaching zombies.
• Livestock guardian theme: The breeds are particularly appropriate for farms and countryside settlements.
• Companion Dogs integration: Both breeds use the same traits and moodle as the German Shepherd.

These characteristics make them interesting choices for players who enjoy rural survival and keeping animals in Project Zomboid.

Unique Appearance and Coat Colors

Each breed has its own recognizable appearance.

Greater Swiss Mountain Dog

The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog appears in its classic tricolor coat, combining black, red, and white.

Anatolian Shepherd

The Anatolian Shepherd can spawn with one of two coat variations:

• Fawn
• Brindle

These differences provide additional visual variety when encountering dogs in the game world.

Where to Find the New Dogs

Both breeds appear in the same types of locations where Border Collies can spawn.

This means players can encounter Anatolian Shepherds and Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs in the open countryside.

Exploring rural areas is therefore the appropriate way to look for these new canine companions.
