Escape From Zomboid Firearms - Tarkov Weapons and Modular Gunsmithing for Project Zomboid
Escape From Zomboid Firearms brings 149 weapons, 1,969 parts, 273 presets and bot builds, 23 tactical devices, and 99 ammunition types across 29 calibres to Project Zomboid. It uses Escape from Tarkov models, textures, icons, sounds and animation data, with combat adapted to PZ.
The mod is in early development. Expect bugs and occasional animation issues, and configure its sandbox settings and controls before playing.
Assemble and save weapon builds
The Weapon Modding screen places attachment slots directly on the 3D weapon model. Nested slots, compatibility rules, conflicting components and required parts determine which configurations can be assembled. Statistics are recalculated from the base weapon.
Save finished builds, plan future configurations, share build codes and assemble weapons using parts in your inventory. An additional Inspect screen provides weapon inspection.
Equipment and loot
Features include:
- Reloading, chambering and bolt operation based on Tarkov animation data.
- Weapon lights, lasers, night vision and thermal scopes.
- GP-25, GP-34, M203, FN40GL, MSGL and RShG-2 launchers.
- Hand grenades, including smoke grenades.
- Container, vehicle and zombie loot using weapon presets, bot builds and equipment kits.
Sandbox settings control loot categories, weapon classes, calibres, locations and the balance between NATO and Warsaw Pact equipment.
Vanilla firearms and ammunition do not spawn by default. Restore them through Vanilla firearms and Vanilla ammunition on the EFZ Loot settings page.
Requirements and load order
Requires:
- Project Zomboid Build 42.21 or newer.
- Gunworks Gang Framework, mod ID SWMG.
- ZombieBuddy, including its Java setup for rendering, night vision and thermal scopes.
Project Viewpoint is optional, providing first-person aiming and scopes.
Load order: ZombieBuddy > SWMG > Viewpoint, if used > Escape From Zomboid Firearms.
English and Russian are supported, and the mod is compatible with A-Life.
Multiplayer setup
Use a dedicated server. The author reports that ZombieBuddy does not work with the game’s Host mode.

For Viewpoint first-person shooting, the server module requires Server ballistics = Live to handle the mod’s projectile flight, penetration and wounds. Other shots use the game’s normal hit processing. Server-side smoke grenades block zombie sight.
Settings are under EscapeFromZomboidFirearms in the server’s SandboxVars. Single-player does not require the server module.
Compatibility and limitations
Avoid other weapon mods. Additional animation, aiming, ballistics and movement modifications can also cause problems. Specifically, the author warns against Project Viewpoint: Recoil & ADS, True Ballistics, Shoot to thrill and Advanced movement. Shader compatibility is uncertain.
This is not a complete Tarkov conversion: Tarkov armor and weapon malfunction systems are not included.
