1989 Volvo 200 Series

Some cars are designed for speed, others for transporting supplies, and a few manage to offer a little of everything. The 1989 Volvo 200 Series brings that versatility to Project Zomboid with three distinctive body styles, extensive customization and a practical armor system that grows alongside your survival skills.

From the sporty 242 Turbo to the spacious 245 Station Wagon, this collection offers something for almost every survivor. Whether you're making quick supply runs, traveling between settlements or preparing for a long expedition, there's a Volvo ready for the job.

And unlike vehicles that require advanced metalworking from the beginning, these cars can be protected with simple wooden armor before you eventually upgrade to stronger metal components.

Three Volvo Variants

The collection includes three configurations with different strengths:

  • Volvo 242 Turbo Coupe - The performance-oriented choice, ideal for players who prefer a faster vehicle.
  • Volvo 244 Sedan - A balanced alternative that sits between the sporty coupe and the more practical wagon.
  • Volvo 245 Station Wagon - The cargo-focused version, offering more room for transporting supplies and equipment.

Each vehicle accommodates four occupants, making the collection suitable for solo journeys or small groups.

The differences between the body styles allow you to choose a car that matches your current priorities rather than relying on a single solution for every situation.

Progressive Wooden and Metal Armor

One of the most useful features is the two-tier protection system, offering both wooden and metal armor.

Wooden components provide an accessible starting point for survivors who haven't developed their metalworking skills. They allow you to add basic protection while gathering resources and improving your abilities.

Later, metal armor becomes an option for those who want to invest in a more capable defensive setup.

Protection and customization options include:

  • Wooden armor for early survival
  • Stronger metal armor for later progression
  • Reinforced bumpers and bullbars
  • Protective plates for windows and doors
  • Additional shielding for the engine and headlights
  • Roof racks for extra equipment
  • Spoilers and front lips
  • Five different tire sets
  • Multiple exterior texture variations

Many of these components can be crafted or discovered throughout the game world, allowing you to gradually transform an ordinary Volvo into a personalized survival vehicle.

Detailed Animations and Interactive Parts

All three versions feature fully animated hoods, trunks, doors and windows.

The interior and character remain visible during driving, while improved entering, exiting and aiming animations make interactions feel more natural.

Additional features include:

  • Removable 3D components that can be placed in the game world
  • Craftable and discoverable accessories
  • Distinctive performance and utility characteristics
  • Support for towing and being towed
  • Four seats in every variant

Compatibility

  • Build 41.78.16 - Single Player and Multiplayer supported
  • Build 42.12 - Single Player supported
  • Build 42.13 - Single Player and Multiplayer supported
  • Can be added to an existing save through the load menu
  • Vehicle recoloring is not supported

The Volvo 200 Series is an excellent choice for players who want a dependable vehicle they can improve throughout their survival journey. Start with basic wooden protection, collect better equipment and eventually build a tougher machine capable of accompanying you through the increasingly dangerous roads of Kentucky.
