Skully's Zombie Collision
Zombies stop walking through each other. This mod adds proper collision between zombies, so during a chase the horde behaves like a crowd of bodies rather than a pack of ghosts.
Tested and balanced by the author. Players report it running smoothly in multiplayer even over long sessions; see the comments on the mod page for their feedback.
The problem
In vanilla, zombies chasing you often slip right through one another, especially when you hit or shove the one in front. The ones behind simply pass through, and the whole crowd is on you in an instant.

The fix
The mod gives zombies collision while they chase you, and does it without hurting performance. It only checks the zombies close to you, and only a small number of them: the ones that actually matter. That's why it makes almost no difference whether 10 or 100 zombies are around you; the extra load stays roughly the same.

Tested in multiplayer
Testing was done at 200 ping with the usual multiplayer desync. Fighting alone, it feels just like single player.

Special thanks to goco for helping with testing.
No more going through walls!
The author reworked how zombies push each other aside and added optimizations, so the crush no longer squeezes them through walls.

Test results
On the author's own mid-to-high-end gaming PC, the mod had very little impact. At the highest sandbox settings, with 50 zombies packed into a tight space, CPU usage and FPS were barely different from vanilla.
Keep in mind: weaker PCs may see a different relative impact. Compare the mod against vanilla on your own machine, and test it on its own, not inside a 500+ mod list where anything could be causing slowdowns.

Sandbox settings
The mod now has sandbox settings, translated into 11 languages (with AI).

It's balanced out of the box. If you'd like to tweak something, such as collision size or how often collisions happen, the author suggests grabbing a sandbox config editor mod and finding values you like in single player, since every change needs a reload.
At a glance
- Safe to add and remove mid-game.
- Should work alongside most mods.
- Works in multiplayer, according to players.
- If any incompatibilities turn up, the author will list them.
