1987 Ford B700 & F700
Few vehicles are as recognizable on American roads as the classic yellow school bus. Built on Ford's dependable medium-duty platform, the B700 and F700 became familiar sights in schools, commercial fleets and specialized services across the country.
Now these iconic machines are coming to Project Zomboid with six distinct configurations, ranging from passenger buses to armored trucks and emergency response vehicles.
They're big, heavy and certainly not designed to win races. But when you need to transport a large group of survivors, move valuable supplies or build a heavily protected vehicle, their size becomes a serious advantage.
Six Vehicles for Different Survival Needs
The collection includes six chassis configurations, each with its own purpose and characteristics:
- Ford B700 School Bus - The familiar American school bus, ideal for transporting large groups of survivors.
- Ford B700 Military Bus - A military-themed passenger transport with distinctive exterior styling.
- Ford B700 Prison Bus - A specialized bus inspired by correctional transport vehicles.
- Ford F700 SWAT Van - A tactical response vehicle designed around a more compact passenger configuration.
- Ford F700 Armored Bank Truck - An armored transport with a reinforced appearance.
- Ford F700 Box Truck - A commercial cargo truck with an enclosed body.
Most components are interchangeable between compatible configurations, simplifying maintenance and repairs.
Passenger Capacity
Different vehicles offer different seating arrangements:
- Bus variants - 1 driver seat and 14 passenger seats, accommodating up to 15 occupants.
- SWAT Van - 8 seats.
- Armored Bank Truck - 2 seats.
- Box Truck - 2 seats.
The buses are particularly useful for multiplayer communities that need to move an entire group between settlements or evacuation points.
Armor and Customization
A large vehicle might offer plenty of space, but that doesn't mean it can ignore the dangers of the apocalypse.
The B700 and F700 support additional protective equipment that can be crafted or discovered throughout the game world.
Available upgrades include:
- Two front bumper configurations
- Two levels of protective equipment
- Two sets of armor
- Reinforced window and door protection
- Additional shielding for the engine and headlights
- Roof racks and other exterior accessories
- Multiple texture variations
These options allow you to preserve the original appearance of a vehicle or gradually transform it into something better suited for dangerous expeditions.
Animated Components and Interactive Parts
Each configuration includes detailed vehicle interactions:
- Fully animated hood, trunk, doors and windows
- Visible interior and character model
- Improved entering, exiting and aiming animations
- Removable 3D components that can be placed in the game world
- Craftable and discoverable replacement parts
- Support for towing and being towed
Special Vehicle Spawns
An optional sandbox setting enables special spawn locations.
With this feature activated, vehicles can appear in environments appropriate to their roles, making exploration more immersive. Instead of relying entirely on random discoveries, you can encounter these specialized machines in more natural surroundings.
Compatibility
- Build 41.78.20 - Single Player and Multiplayer supported
- Build 42.17+ - Single Player and Multiplayer supported
