1967 Cadillac Gage Commando

When the streets are filled with zombies and ordinary cars are no longer enough, it's time to bring out something much tougher. The 1967 Cadillac Gage Commando introduces a heavily armored military vehicle to Project Zomboid, designed to withstand punishment that would quickly destroy conventional transport.

Imagine being surrounded by an enormous horde, hearing the undead pounding against the hull while you remain protected inside. With reinforced doors, durable windows and specialized equipment, this machine offers a completely different approach to surviving dangerous encounters.

It isn't just about protection, either. Six passenger seats, generous fuel capacity and several configurations make the Commando a practical choice for group expeditions.

Three Vehicle Variants

The collection includes three functional configurations:

  • Standard Commando - A classic armored military vehicle with reinforced construction and dependable protection.
  • T50 Turret Variant - Equipped with a distinctive roof-mounted turret for a more intimidating appearance. The weapon is purely cosmetic and cannot fire.
  • Police Commando - A law enforcement version featuring an emergency lightbar and functional siren.

Burnt wrecks can also appear in traffic jams and other abandoned locations, adding variety to the post-apocalyptic environment.

Advanced Armor and Protection

The Commando offers several defensive features that distinguish it from ordinary civilian transport:

  • Reinforced doors - Cannot be completely destroyed, helping maintain protection during prolonged attacks.
  • Armored windows - Can develop cracks but generally remain intact. Shattering is possible during extremely high-speed crashes.
  • Protected engine access - The armored engine door cannot fully break.
  • Reinforced fuel tank - Resistant to damage, with capacity that does not decrease when damaged.
  • Extended fuel reserves - Approximately twice the tank capacity of other vehicles, according to the mod's specifications.

These systems make the armored hull particularly useful when escaping crowded urban areas or traveling through heavily infected territory.

Run-Flat Tires and Automatic Inflation

Surviving an attack means little if damaged wheels leave you stranded.

The Commando addresses this problem with two specialized systems:

  • Run-flat tires allow continued movement after damage, although reduced friction negatively affects handling.
  • Central Tire Inflation (CTI) monitors tire pressure and automatically restores it when levels become too low.

Together, these features help keep the vehicle operational under conditions that could immobilize an ordinary car.

Interior and Additional Features

The cabin accommodates six occupants, making it suitable for transporting an entire group of survivors.

The rear storage compartment can be accessed from any seat. It can also be opened through the radial menu by operating the rear doors.
