Barricades scale to fit windows and doors, using additional planks, metal sheets or bars for larger openings. More materials provide more protection while retaining vanilla barricade behavior. For Build 42.20 and 42.21; safe to add or remove mid-save.
Fitted Barricades makes barricades cover the opening they protect instead of using the same four-plank arrangement everywhere.
Barricade normally and keep adding materials. Planks fill larger openings from the middle outward, retaining vanilla spacing.
Materials match the opening
Typical requirements include:
- Small windows: the usual four planks.
- Tall house windows: six planks.
- Shop fronts: nine planks.
- Doors: seven planks.
Tall openings require two metal sheets or two sets of bars instead of one.
Each component retains vanilla durability. A nine-plank window uses 18 nails and is more than twice as tough as a four-plank barricade. Zombies must break every plank to enter.
Planks break individually. Three planks or one metal sheet block sight, as in vanilla. Removing barricades returns every plank, sheet or bar.
Exceptions
Small windows remain unchanged, as do some oversized multi-tile windows, including double-height Seahorse panes and certain police station and theatre fronts.
Openings where the window has been removed entirely also retain vanilla behavior.
Compatibility and saves
For Build 42, with support reported for 42.20 and 42.21.
Existing barricades are refitted as their area loads, and additional planks can be installed. The mod adds tiles without modifying vanilla files.
Safe to add or remove mid-save. After removal, barricades remain functional because they consist of ordinary game barricade objects.
Multiplayer works in the author’s testing, but dedicated servers have not been tested.
