Curl Up - Comforting Animations and Mood Recovery for Project Zomboid

Curl Up lets your survivor hug their knees while sitting on the ground or furniture. Select the action through the context menu to adopt a curled-up pose.

The action slowly reduces stress and unhappiness, though unhappiness cannot fall below Sad. It also provides a small warming effect only when the character is cold.

Sandbox settings control the effects, including reversing them to increase stress or unhappiness instead.

Rocking at high stress

At the At Breaking Point stress level, a curled-up character rocks back and forth.

The threshold can be changed in Mod Options, with each multiplayer player choosing their own setting.

Optional vignette

A camera effect zooms in and dims the surroundings while curled up, limiting what you can see.

Disabled by default. Enable it under Options > Mods > Curl Up > Vignette When Curled Up. Sandbox options can enforce specific settings for all players.

Spontaneous curling up

An unhappy character may curl up automatically while sitting idle with the camera zoomed in closely.

This can happen only once per sitting session. The character must stand and sit again before another spontaneous activation.

Mod Options let you disable this behavior or adjust its thresholds and required idle time.

Optional integrations

• Bloodlust Overwhelming: slowly reduces bloodlust and kill cravings.
• Hardship: Emotions: provides resting benefits like lying down and makes fear fade 50% faster.
• Hardship: Bonds: replaces Curl up with Grieve during mourning, easing grief more effectively at a loved one’s grave.

Multiplayer and installation

Supports multiplayer and is safe to add to or remove from an existing save.

Fully restart the game after enabling the mod. Without a restart, its new animations may appear broken or fail to work.
