Vanilla Plants Expanded - New Crops, Fruit Trees and Soil Tilling for RimWorld
Vanilla Plants Expanded gives your colony more choices in the fields with new crops, fruit trees and a soil-tilling mechanic. Each crop has distinct strengths and limitations, expanding farming while keeping familiar staples such as rice and potatoes useful.
Grow for your colony’s needs
New plants offer different ways to organise food production without adding complicated processing chains.
Fruit trees are tied to biomes, with two varieties per biome. Their fruit provides equivalent nutrition, keeping the selection manageable while giving different environments their own character.
Unlock Tree Sowing to plant fruit trees. Trees cannot be relocated after planting, preserving their spacing requirements.
Other details include:
- Beetroots already planted can continue growing through winter, although more slowly. New ones cannot be sown in frozen conditions.
- Tall grass provides more nutrition for grazing animals than ordinary grass.
Improve soil through tilling
After the appropriate research, colonists can till soil to raise its fertility to the level of rich soil.
This improvement lasts for one harvest. Afterwards, the ground returns to its original state and must be tilled again. There is no automatic re-tilling option: the extra fertility requires additional management, while normal farming remains available without it.
Compatibility and saves
Built-in integration with Vanilla Cooking Expanded adds uses for the new ingredients, including condiment recipes.
The mod works alongside VGP and RimCuisine2, with naming adjustments that help distinguish overlapping content. Its tilling mechanic uses a separate system designed to coexist with other tilled-soil mods.
You can add Vanilla Plants Expanded to an existing save. Removing it during a playthrough is not recommended.
