Blood VFX for Viewpoint — Blood Effects and Dismemberment
Blood VFX for Viewpoint adds directional blood spray, persistent-looking stains and dismemberment to Project Viewpoint’s combat. Effects respond to the strength and direction of damaging hits.
Combat effects
- Blood spray and mist: triggered by attacks that deal damage. Shoves do not cause bleeding.
- Environmental stains: blood lands on floors, walls and ceilings, changes from red to brown as it dries, drips down walls and pools beneath corpses.
- Directional effects: spray follows weapon swings, gunshots and upward impacts from stomping.
- Dismemberment: blades and axes can sever the targeted body part, while blunt weapons and shotguns can destroy it into fragments. Detached pieces fly and bounce, with bleeding from the wound.
- Optional slow motion: dismembering kills can briefly slow the action and deepen the sound in single-player.
Heads and lower legs can only be removed on a killing blow. Torso hits do not trigger their removal.
Settings and shaders
Choose a preset ranging from Realistic to Epic gore, or adjust individual effects through Options → Mods.
The mod supports Viewpoint shader packs, including Minecraft Iris packs such as Complementary, Solas and Photon. Blood follows their lighting and is correctly obscured by hands, weapons and walls.
Requirements and installation
The supplied requirements specify:
- Project Zomboid Build 42.21
- Project Viewpoint 0.1.5a
- ZombieBuddy with its Java loader installed
Load ZombieBuddy → Project Viewpoint → Blood VFX and approve the Java component when prompted.
Alpha limitations
This is an independent, unofficial add-on in early alpha. It hooks into Viewpoint’s renderer, so Viewpoint updates may require a corresponding compatibility update.
Severed heads do not retain hats or helmets. Detached parts do not cast shadows when using a shader pack.
Multiplayer is untested, and slow motion is disabled there. Dismemberment is not saved: corpses return to their complete appearance after reloading.
