Vanilla Cooking Expanded

Vanilla Cooking Expanded brings more variety to RimWorld’s kitchens with new meals, desserts, cheese, soups and condiments. Familiar ingredients become the foundation for a richer food system, with straightforward mechanics that fit naturally into colony life.

More ways to feed your colony

  • Fruit desserts give colonists a mood boost.
  • Grilled meals provide an additional benefit while warm, but lose it below 10°C.
  • Baked dishes use flour to prepare large portions of food.
  • Soups simmer over several days and produce large batches.
  • Cheese presses turn animal milk into cheese that improves in quality and value as it ages.
  • Gourmet meals use condiments to provide effects lasting 12 hours, trading some nutritional value for useful bonuses.
  • Canned ingredients never spoil and can be used in recipes. Colonists can eat them directly, but they are not particularly filling.

Gourmet meals stack according to their ingredients, keeping meals with different condiments separate.

Expand your food production

Cheesemaking supports insectoid milk from Vanilla Factions Expanded - Insectoids, plus 19 types of milk from Alpha Animals, Vanilla Genetics Expanded and Alpha Bees.

With Vanilla Factions Expanded - Medieval, you can combine cheese production with winemaking to build a colony around food and drink.

Requirements and compatibility

Requires Vanilla Expanded Framework.

Compatibility patches allow the mod to work alongside VGP and RimCuisine2. It can be added to an existing save.

Known conflicts:

  • Packed Meats modifies the same method used to control thoughts about meals.
  • Sense Of Depth For Tall Buildings can interfere with soup-pot rendering.

The former cholesterol, diabetes and high-blood-pressure mechanics were removed in the 1.4 update.

Authors: Oskar Potocki, Sarg Bjornson and Chowder. Additional update code by Drowsy Corgi.
