Vanilla Weapons Expanded 2 - Coilguns - Gauss Weapons and Piercing Shots for RimWorld
Vanilla Weapons Expanded 2 - Coilguns rebuilds the original module with advanced Spacer-tech weapons, two firing modes and new visual effects. Its arsenal includes the Gauss Rifle, Gauss Revolver and Gauss Lance, each offering 200% armour penetration.
Choose your firing mode
Unlock the weapons through Portable Mass Drivers research, then choose how to use their firepower:
- Low-power mode: conventional shots that do not pierce multiple targets.
- High-power mode: projectiles penetrate multiple targets, but require twice the aiming time and lose 20% damage per target hit.
High-power shots can continue through enemies until stopped by obstacles. Nearby allies receive protection from your own piercing shots, and disabling friendly fire in the storyteller settings prevents these weapons from damaging your colonists.
Unique weapons and visible impacts
Unique gauss weapons can carry six new traits: Inertial Core, Bypass Relay, Overdrawn Coils, Ionized Sabots, Hypercapacitors and Inverted Rail Tuning, alongside selected base-game traits.
These special variants are quest rewards. Traits cannot be installed as upgrades; the mod does not include a weapon-customisation system.
High-power mode adds a charging animation, while impacts scatter debris and leave bullet holes that are difficult to clean and can spoil an area’s appearance.
Compatibility and saves
Eligible enemies can spawn with the new weapons.
The mod can be added to or removed from an existing save. After adding it, update your stockpile filters to allow the new items.
When using Combat Extended, report shooting and balance issues to the CE team, which maintains its own compatibility patches.
