RimMarket - Merchant Stalls, Trade Routes and Fairs for RimWorld

RimMarket turns visiting caravans into a working marketplace. Merchants enter your colony, occupy available stalls, pay a rental fee and stay for a full market day. Wooden and steel structures suit both medieval villages and modern settlements.

Trading uses the normal interface, with one haggling attempt per visit. A failed negotiation can cost roughly as much as a successful one would save.

Build and manage a market

Place a market marker under Architect > Misc, then build stalls within its radius. A button adjusts the market boundary to your walls.

Customize awning edges, patterns and colors individually, randomize them or apply a matching design across the market.

Stalls can also belong to your colony. Choose goods and prices in their sales table, and haulers keep them stocked. Friendly shoppers visit to buy, with lower prices attracting more business. Guests from Hospitality and Hotels and Recreation can shop there too.

Your market develops an overall reputation and separate standing with each faction. Good treatment attracts more caravans and rarer merchants; poor treatment can make traders refuse your stalls.

Visitors, thieves and accommodation

Occasional thieves steal from pack animals and flee. Caravan guards pursue them, while colonists can tackle them through the right-click menu. Catching a thief does not damage faction relations.

Additional facilities include:

  • Caravan camp: a waiting area for pack animals. Fence it in to keep them contained.
  • Guard rest spot: somewhere for off-duty guards to sit and eat.
  • Inn beds: convert any bed into paid accommodation, charging 20 silver per night by default. Room quality and price affect market appeal.
  • Auction post: caravans carrying slaves can attract buyers from slaveholding factions. Your colony can bid too.

Vanilla Expanded Framework optionally adds an alternative graphic for the auction post.

Expand trade beyond your colony

The comms console provides:

  • Trade routes: pay to establish a route and receive convoys every week or two, with a fee for each delivery. Escorts cost extra.
  • Special orders: request cartloads or full caravans of food, materials, weapons or luxuries.
  • Wanted notices: list up to 10 requested goods, receive offers and haggle once. Excessive demands can end negotiations.

Convoys travel on the world map and may be ambushed. Send a caravan to help at their camp, or risk losing part of the shipment. Your own caravans can rent stalls in friendly towns.

Hold a Great Fair

Every couple of weeks, pay heralds to arrange a fair. Three days later, up to six caravans arrive together, bringing shoppers with more silver.

Festivities include a best-stall prize at 6 pm. Wooden stalls bring maypole decorations and sky lanterns; metal stalls use string lights, a light tower and fireworks.

Integrations

Listed compatible mods include Trading Control, Trading Spot, Vanilla Trading Expanded, VFE Empire, VFE Deserters, Faction Territories, Hegemony and Arrest Here.

With Medieval Overhaul, the messenger table provides the comms-console functions.
