Vanilla Trading Expanded - Dynamic Prices, Banks and Contracts for RimWorld
Vanilla Trading Expanded makes trading a larger part of colony planning. Prices fluctuate, news creates opportunities, and banks, loans, shares and contracts give your settlement more ways to manage its silver.
The economy is deliberately simplified, with mechanics designed around gameplay rather than realistic financial simulation.
Trade in a changing market
Item values respond to simulated market activity and your own large purchases or sales. News can affect entire categories: preparations for war may increase weapon prices, while a plentiful harvest can make food cheaper.
Sharp movements can develop into price spikes and crashes. Because these changes affect market value, they also affect the calculated wealth of items in your colony.
Use banks and loans
Deposit silver with a bank run by a civil outlander faction, or use the Imperial bank with Royalty.
Deposits and withdrawals normally carry fees based on faction relations. Allies pay no fees, and deposited silver does not count towards colony wealth.
Loans offer immediate funds with repayment obligations. Missing the deadline can make the banking faction hostile, trigger a threatening raid and cause daily interest to accumulate. Further deposits go towards repaying the debt.
Invest and fulfil contracts
Buy shares in randomly generated orbital trading companies and follow company news to track changing prices. Your portfolio does not count towards colony wealth. Trading directly with a company does not influence its share price.
Contracts offer above-market payments for requested goods, but another supplier may claim them first. You can also post purchasing contracts: offering more increases the chance of attracting a seller. Keep enough money in the bank to cover the order.
Compatibility and saves
Royalty is optional and adds access to the Imperial bank. Combat Extended is supported.
The mod can be added to an existing save. Compatibility with other banking or supply-and-demand mods is not firmly guaranteed.
Known issue: contract caravans may fail to leave after collecting their requested goods.
