Vanilla Races Expanded - Genie - Specialised Engineers and New Survival Challenges for RimWorld
Vanilla Races Expanded - Genie develops Biotech’s engineer xenotype with new genes, stronger specialisation and additional vulnerabilities.
This mod increases difficulty. Its changes make genies more distinctive, but also demand greater care when protecting them from injury and disease.
Precision comes at a cost
Genies are engineered for delicate technical work. Their affinity with machinery and calm temperament suit demanding engineering roles, while their biology creates serious weaknesses:
- Fragile bodies make them vulnerable in combat.
- Heightened pain sensitivity makes relatively minor injuries debilitating.
- Social limitations complicate their relationships with other people.
- Absent natural immunity gain makes illness particularly dangerous.
The expanded genes also appear in genepacks, allowing you to apply individual characteristics to other pawns.
Antibiotics and immunity
The mod adds antibiotics to help manage its immunity mechanics.
For genies, antibiotics provide a fixed +100% immunity gain-speed bonus, rather than multiplying their otherwise absent immunity gain. Effects on other pawns depend on their existing immunity gain speed; characters with above-normal immunity may receive no benefit.
Antibiotic addiction reduces their effectiveness, making routine use a poor substitute for careful management.
Requirements and saves
Requires the Biotech DLC. No Humanoid Alien Races version is provided.
The mod can be added to an existing save, but only newly generated genies receive its changes. Existing genies remain unchanged.
Removing the mod during a playthrough is not considered safe. Combat Extended compatibility is not confirmed.
