Vanilla Races Expanded - Saurids - Reptilian Xenohumans for RimWorld

Vanilla Races Expanded - Saurids introduces a reptilian xenotype with new genes, distinctive biology and its own faction. Designed for hot, arid environments, Saurids offer a different approach to colony life through low food consumption, limited sociability and natural combat adaptations.

Meet the Saurids

Genetically engineered using synthesised dinosaur DNA, Saurids combine human ancestry with lizard-like characteristics:

  • Cold-blooded physiology suited to their environmental theme.
  • Hardened scales and sharp claws that support melee combat.
  • Very low metabolism, reducing food requirements.
  • Isolationist tendencies and harsh voices that shape their social identity.
  • Pheromone communication between Saurids.
  • Egg-laying reproduction instead of live birth.

Their background centres on genetic adaptation for demanding work on hot, resource-poor planets.

Encounter the faction or use its genes

A new Saurid faction joins the world alongside the outlander factions, providing opportunities to encounter this xenotype.

The individual genes also appear in genepacks, allowing you to apply selected Saurid characteristics to other pawns and create your own combinations.

Requirements and saves

Requires the Biotech DLC. The mod uses Biotech’s gene system; no Humanoid Alien Races version is provided.

It can be added to an existing save. Removing a xenotype mod during a playthrough is not considered safe.

Combat Extended compatibility is not confirmed in the supplied description.

Authors: Oskar Potocki and Neronix. Xenotype description by Reann Shepard; storyteller artwork by Vitalii.
