Vanilla Factions Expanded - Pirates - Warcaskets, Mercenaries and New Threats
Vanilla Factions Expanded - Pirates gives RimWorld’s pirates a broader identity through new factions, events, technologies and defensive options. Its central addition is the warcasket, a customizable combat suit built around a pawn.
Two additional factions
- Junkers: warriors sealed inside powerful warcaskets, bringing heavily armored fighters to pirate encounters.
- Mercenaries: a spacer-tech faction of sanctioned pirates that you can establish friendly relations with.
The comms console also lets you hire pirates as temporary reinforcements. Their assistance comes at a substantial price.
Warcaskets
Warcaskets are industrial-era predecessors to power armor, with customizable armor configurations and dedicated weapons.
A pawn inside a warcasket cannot perform ordinary work. These suits are intended exclusively for combat, although their occupants can still use psycasts and compatible abilities such as magic.
Removing a warcasket requires research and has severe consequences: the procedure removes all of the pawn’s limbs and turns them into a shellcasket. This is a lasting commitment rather than equipment to swap between work and battle.
Warcaskets are not necessarily superior to power armor, which offers comparable protection while allowing work and normal removal.
Optional pirate ideology
No official DLC is required. With Ideology, the mod adds a Pirate meme, sea shanties and a stronger emphasis on camaraderie.
Requirements and compatibility
Requires Vanilla Expanded Framework.
Combat Extended compatibility is provided by a patch included in CE itself.
The mod supports existing saves, but removing it during a playthrough is not supported. Back up your save before installation.
There are no built-in switches for disabling individual systems; the mod is intended to be used as a complete package.
