Vanilla Books Expanded - Write Books and Newspapers in RimWorld

Vanilla Books Expanded lets your colonists become authors. While the base game provides books to collect and read, this mod adds the workstations needed to write them inside your own colony.

Turn knowledge into books

Build a writing bench or typewriter bench and assign colonists to produce books.

Writing is a substantial project rather than a quick crafting task. Completion time depends on the author’s Intellectual skill, and a book can take quadrums to finish. Developing a capable writer gives your colony a long-term creative pursuit.

Publish a daily newspaper

Newspapers offer a quicker alternative to book writing. They are fast to produce and provide recreation when read, but each newspaper lasts only 24 hours after creation.

This makes newspapers a short-lived source of entertainment that needs regular replacement.

Compatibility and saves

The mod can be used alongside other recreation mods. RimWriter and other book-writing mods may introduce overlapping workstations and recipes.

Vanilla Books Expanded does not add its own bookshelves; existing storage furniture can be used.

You can add the mod to an existing save. Removing it may cause errors, so back up your colony before doing so.
