Vanilla Weapons Expanded - Makeshift - Improvised Firearms for RimWorld
Vanilla Weapons Expanded - Makeshift adds cheap, unreliable guns for desperate colonies and post-apocalyptic playthroughs. Inspired by Rust, Fallout and improvised real-world firearms, the module offers an early route to ranged weapons without a machining table or steel.
Build guns with limited resources
Complete the Makeshift Weapons research project, then craft the weapons at a crafting spot using components.
Their low production requirements make them useful for challenging starts such as Naked Brutality, when proper manufacturing facilities are still out of reach.
Every burst is uncertain
Makeshift weapons fire a random number of shots within a defined range:
- Makeshift pistol: between 0 and 1 shots, meaning an attack may produce no shot at all.
- Makeshift rifle: between 1 and 5 shots per burst.
That unpredictability is their main drawback. They provide accessible firepower, but you cannot rely on every attack delivering the same result.
Scavenger pirates can also appear with these weapons.
Requirements and compatibility
Requires Vanilla Expanded Framework.
The mod supports Run and Gun. The supplied release description marks it as not yet compatible with Combat Extended.
You can add the mod to an existing save. Removing it may cause issues, so back up your colony before doing so.
