Viewpoint: Living Props — Reactive 3D Objects for Project Zomboid
Viewpoint: Living Props gives familiar objects three-dimensional models that reflect their current state. Shelves look different as supplies disappear, appliances show when they are working, and mannequins display the clothing placed on them.
This fan-made Project Viewpoint add-on uses models built from scratch to bring more of the game’s changing environment into its 3D view.
Furniture with visible contents
Bookcases, wardrobes, counters, display cases, refrigerators, and shop shelving can show empty, partly filled, or stocked states through 3D contents.
Clothing displays receive particular attention. Open wardrobes and racks feature hanging garments, while long clothing shelves display folded shirts, trousers, and towels. Mannequins wear their equipped clothes as three-dimensional figures visible from different angles.
Supported animal troughs and feeders also show changing food or water levels.
Details beyond storage
The mod updates several other parts of the environment:
- Street objects: supported cones, barrels, signs, and mailboxes show damage from vehicle impacts.
- Fireplaces: logs, animated flames, mantels, and chimneys.
- Cooking appliances: animations, glowing burners, and lighting effects.
- Televisions: screens respond to the programme playing in-game.
- Light switches: visible switch positions and a subtle red glow in darkness.
- Door curtains: opening and closing in 3D, with corresponding room-lighting effects.
Requirements and load order
Requires:
- Project Zomboid Build 42.21+
- Project Viewpoint 0.1.6+
- ZombieBuddy
Place Living Props last when using multiple model packs. Packs loaded after it may replace its models and prevent some features from appearing correctly.
ZombieBuddy may request approval for the mod’s Java helper, including after updates.
Existing saves and multiplayer
Living Props works with existing saves and adds no new items, recipes, or settings.
It runs client-side. Servers and other players do not need to install it for you to use its visuals.
