Vanilla Races Expanded - Phytokin - Plant-Based Xenohumans for RimWorld

Vanilla Races Expanded - Phytokin introduces rare xenohumans combining human and plant DNA. These photosynthetic colonists can live on sunlight, reproduce by planting a saplingchild and form a close connection with plant life.

Their botanical abilities suit farming colonies, while unusually high psychic sensitivity adds another dimension to their identity.

Three varieties tied to DLC

The available Phytokin varieties depend on your enabled expansions:

• Poluxkin: available with Biotech alone.
• Gauranlenkin: additionally requires Ideology.
• Animakin: additionally requires Royalty.

Each variety connects the plant-human concept with a different tree theme in RimWorld.

Grow a new generation

Phytokins reproduce through planted offspring rather than ordinary pregnancy. Their lineages produce similar descendants, with successive generations described as more capable than their predecessors.

Individual genes also appear in genepacks, letting you apply selected characteristics to other pawns.

Find a Phytokin

Phytokins can appear very rarely in existing factions. After installing the mod, an introductory quest also offers an opportunity to rescue one from raiders.

Requirements and compatibility

Requires Biotech. Ideology and Royalty unlock their respective varieties. No Humanoid Alien Races version is provided.

Vanilla Ideology Expanded - Anima Theme does not currently alter Gauranlenkin.

Known conflict: Friendly Hostile Factions (Continued) has been reported to disrupt Phytokin name generation during the introductory quest.

The mod can be added to an existing save. Removing it during a playthrough is not considered safe. Combat Extended compatibility is unconfirmed.
