Vanilla Vehicles Expanded - Cars, Boats and Aircraft for RimWorld
Vanilla Vehicles Expanded adds a selection of land, sea and aerial vehicles, with new production chains and a progression system built around vehicle categories and tiers. Each vehicle has a particular role, giving your colony reasons to develop its manufacturing capabilities and expand its fleet.
The mod requires Vehicle Framework by Smash Phil.
Acceleration, braking and collisions
Vehicles take time to reach their maximum speed and need space to slow down. Poor braking can damage tires and suspension, while the handbrake adds another way to control movement on the local map.
You can also run enemies over. Collision damage partly depends on speed, but the vehicle takes damage too, with larger targets posing a greater risk.
Transport and combat
- Boats can travel across oceans.
- Airplanes require a landing strip cleared of structures and trees, and can taxi into position before takeoff.
- Vehicle turrets can reload using supplies stored in cargo.
- Firing while moving depends on the crew arrangement. Bulldog, Highwayman and Tango have dedicated gunners, while the single-seat Roadkill must choose between movement and firing.
Vehicles cannot be minified and reinstalled. Garage doors require manual activation: they behave as retractable barriers rather than automatic doors used by pathfinding.
Customize your fleet
The framework’s paint system lets you choose vehicle colors and patterns. 19 additional patterns provide more options for matching your fleet to your colony’s style.
Vehicle-related memes and precepts also support playthroughs centered on transport and machinery.
Compatibility and saves
The mod can be added to an existing save. Combat Extended compatibility is unconfirmed; check with the CE team.
