Vanilla Races Expanded - Highmate - Psychic Bonds and Deeper Relationships for RimWorld
Vanilla Races Expanded - Highmate develops Biotech’s companion xenotype with stronger psychic bonds, new genes and additional relationship mechanics. It also introduces Lowmates, a more volatile alternative capable of combat.
Build meaningful psychic bonds
The expanded bond system benefits both connected pawns, making partner selection an important decision for colony development.
New mechanics add lasting memories from intimacy and an option for psychic conception. Highmates retain their empathic, attractive and non-violent identity while gaining a more substantial role in colony life.
Lowmates can fight, but their unruly personalities can lead to frequent romances and breakups.
The new genes also appear in genepacks, allowing you to apply individual characteristics to other pawns.
Find Highmates and Lowmates
- Lowmates can appear in outlander and pirate caravans and raids.
- Highmates have a very small chance to appear in outlander caravans. Escaping cargo pods remain a promising way to encounter them.
- With Royalty, reaching the rank of Baron grants a random Highmate as an Imperial reward.
Customisation and compatibility
Cat ears and tails can be disabled in the mod settings. Restart the game for that change to apply.
Known conflict: Intimacy - A Lovin’ Expansion removes this mod’s Initiate Lovin’ ability.
Combat Extended compatibility is not confirmed.
Requirements and saves
Requires Biotech. Royalty is optional. No Humanoid Alien Races version is provided.
The mod can be added to an existing save, but existing Highmates do not receive the new changes. Only newly generated Highmates are affected.
Removing the mod during a playthrough is not considered safe.
