Viewpoint Fishing — Cast Your Line in First or Third Person

Viewpoint Fishing adapts fishing to Project Viewpoint’s 3D camera. Your line connects the rod tip to a floating bobber, splashes reveal fishing spots, and your viewing direction determines where you cast.

Look upward for a longer cast or downward to fish closer to shore. Casting distance ranges from 2 to 15 tiles.

Fishing in 3D

  • Visible line: follows the actual rod tip in first-person, third-person and normal isometric views.
  • Changing line tension: hangs loosely while you wait and straightens when reeling or fighting a fish.
  • 3D bobber: a red-and-white float sits on the water and is correctly obscured by objects.
  • Fishing-spot effects: rings and spray bring the game’s fish splashes into the 3D view.
  • Centered tension gauge: keeps the reeling interface just below the crosshair.
  • Settled camera: after casting, the view returns toward the water. Third person holds the camera steady for rod control; first person allows limited looking around.

In single-player, a bite can pause the game, restore normal speed or leave fast-forward running. Pausing is the default.

Fish availability, catch chances, bait, lures, line breakage, rod durability, Fishing XP and the underlying reeling minigame retain their vanilla rules.

Water and shader support

The add-on can display animated vanilla water around the player, following Viewpoint’s terrain relief. Water-shader changes from other mods can appear too.

Support includes Viewpoint’s native rendering, True Weathers and Minecraft shader packs. Tested packs include BSL, Complementary Unbound, Solas, Photon and Bliss.

When a shader pack supplies its own water, the add-on can leave that rendering in place. It also automatically disables its water layer when Yeah it's water bitch - Swimming, Fish, Lakes and Rivers is present, while keeping fishing and fishing-spot effects.

Requirements and setup

ZombieBuddy is required to load the Java component. Project Viewpoint is needed for the 3D features; without it, the fishing line remains available in the normal view.

Approve the Java component when ZombieBuddy prompts you, including after updates. Water rendering, fishing-spot effects and bite behaviour are configured under Options → Mods → Viewpoint Fishing.

Multiplayer has not been tested. The author reports successful addition and removal during existing playthroughs, but this has not been broadly verified.
