TrueWeight — Item Weight Rebalancing for Project Zomboid
TrueWeight revises item weights in Project Zomboid Build 42 to make carrying and storing everyday supplies feel more consistent. Clothing, medicine, books, bottles, tools, and other items receive adjustments intended to reduce disproportionate encumbrance.
The focus is on rebalancing item values within the existing system, rather than introducing a separate simulation of physical weight and storage volume.
What the mod changes
The supplied configuration includes 1,629 individually balanced item presets. Its broader rules can reach up to 5,092 items across 136 categories.
Changes are applied through several methods:
- adjustments to specific item IDs;
- matching parts of item IDs;
- category-wide rules, including literature, skill books, and magazines.
This allows the mod to cover large groups of related items alongside individual corrections.
Interaction with other mods
Because some adjustments use category and ID matching, they may also affect items introduced by other mods. Newly added vanilla items can fall under those rules as well.
Keep this in mind when combining TrueWeight with other weight overhauls or evaluating the carrying requirements of a modded item collection.
Development and item list
TrueWeight remains in development, so updates may change the balance of an ongoing playthrough.
A spreadsheet of modified items is available for checking the adjustments in more detail.
