True Line of Sight — Spot Zombies Hidden by the Isometric View
Your survivor may see a zombie that you cannot clearly make out behind a building, roof, or vehicle. True Line of Sight outlines those obscured threats, helping compensate for scenery that blocks the player’s view.
It does not reveal zombies through walls or extend your character’s vision. A zombie must already be visible to your survivor before it can be highlighted.
Highlights where they are needed
The mod checks whether rendered scenery is concealing a visible zombie. Supported obstructions include:
- buildings;
- outdoor roofs, awnings, porches, and covered areas;
- staircase endpoints;
- vehicles.
Outlines disappear as zombies move clear or the game fades the obstructing structure. Indoor zombies are excluded.
Near stairs, the mod can display a placeholder outline when an otherwise-visible upper-floor zombie’s model is not rendered.
Automatic scanning or aim mode
Automatic scanning checks threats within your character’s current field of view and is enabled by default.
For a lighter setup, disable it and use aim mode. Automatic checks can be more demanding in dense crowds or large urban areas.
Options let you adjust outline colour, darkness thresholds, proximity fading, and aim-mode behaviour. Default settings include:
- 4-tile proximity fading for building-based highlights;
- a 45-degree fixed highlight cone in aim mode;
- a 10% minimum light threshold;
- up to 3 seconds of lingering after releasing aim, provided other conditions remain valid.
Vehicle, covered-area, and staircase highlighting can be toggled separately.
Compatibility
True Line of Sight supports Project Zomboid Build 42 and multiplayer. It can be installed, updated, or removed during an existing playthrough without starting a new world.
Standard vehicles and modded vehicles with compatible dimensions are supported. Unusual vehicle shapes may produce less accurate results.
Mods that replace outlines, visibility systems, or substantial parts of the renderer may conflict.
